Valiant Finance awarded Fintech Startup of the Year at the 2017 Fintech Business Awards
Valiant Finance has taken out the title of Fintech Startup of the Year at the inaugural 2017 Fintech Business Awards. The Awards recognise outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship, and acknowledge exceptional players in the Australian fintech ecosystem.
Over 350 people attended the ceremony, held on Friday 24 February 2017 at the Ivy Ballroom in the Sydney CBD. The awards were adjudicated by a panel of fintech experts with deep industry expertise, and the event was supported by ASX, Avaloq, Spike and Momentum Intelligence.
“Over 300 nominations were received for the 18 awards, with the winners selected by a panel of expert judges from a pool of 125 finalists, indicating the strength of Australia’s fintech sector,” said Fintech Business Managing Editor Aleks Vickovich. Valiant was thrilled to receive the title of Fintech Startup of the Year, amid a cohort of top-quality fintech firms.
Valiant Finance was established in 2015 with the aim of providing affordable, manageable and timely business loans for Australian small businesses. The Valiant platform allows traditionally ‘hard-to-fund’ businesses to access finance from a diverse portfolio of bank and non-bank lenders.
“The small business lending space has seen rapid growth, especially with the increase of online lenders and alternate finance providers who are able to serve new areas of the SME market,” said Head of Product and Cofounder Ritchie Cotton.
Valiant’s algorithm is not weighted towards any particular lender, and this transparency allows the business owner to make a fully informed decision about the loan that is best suited to their needs without spending hours trying to analyse and compare their options.
This equips small businesses to do a range of things, including:
- Upgrading vital equipment or infrastructure;
- Fund an important renovation;
- Solve cash flow concerns;
- Acquire new premises;
- Bring on new staff; and
- Take advantage of growth opportunities.
“We are very humbled to be recognised for such a prestigious award. Valiant’s success would not have been possible without the hard work from the Valiant team, our investors who have been amazing in guiding and advising us, and the growing fintech community who have supported us from the very start,” said Cotton.
“The awards night is vital for the growth and recognition of the fintech industry in Australia. The team at Valiant would like to congratulate all the winners and the community who are developing innovative new products and solutions,” said CEO and Cofounder, Alex Molloy.
